Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) in West Houston, TX

At Brightside Psychology, we specialize in Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for students in the west Houston, TX area, including Katy, Richmond, & Sugar Land. Dr. Kelly, a licensed psychologist and school psychologist, offers psychological IEEs (Autism, Emotional Disability, Other Health Impairment for ADHD, NCEC / Developmental Delay) and psychoeducational IEEs for Intellectual Disability.

What is an IEE?

An IEE is an evaluation conducted by a qualified professional who is not employed by the school district. If you disagree with the results of your child’s school-based evaluation, you have the right to request an IEE at the district’s expense. If the request is granted, you can choose a psychologist to conduct the evaluation, with mutual agreement from the school.

What is the purpose of an IEE?

An IEE can provide a more comprehensive and objective understanding of your child’s needs while ensuring they receive the appropriate support for their education.

Where do I begin this process?

Submit a formal, written request to your child’s school. Clearly state that you are requesting an independent educational evaluation (IEE) at the school’s expense. The school must respond to your request, and they may approve or deny the request. If approved, you can schedule an initial 15-minute phone consultation with Dr. Kelly to ensure we would be a good fit.
